A bit of history
No Brazilian club has won the Libertadores more often than Flamengo: four times (1981, 2019, 2022, 2025). They lifted the last one in Lima over Palmeiras, so they arrive defending the crown.
Fun fact
They are called Urubu because of an insult they handed back transformed: on 31 May 1969, against Botafogo, a fan smuggled a vulture into the Maracaná and released it with a red-and-black flag tied to its feet. Flamengo won 2-1, and the slur became the club's mascot.
Why follow them
Arrascaeta is the brain, with Pedro and Bruno Henrique up top, and in the group stage they scored 14 while conceding just 2. They are chasing a fifth star no Brazilian club has reached.
