A bit of history
The Verdão is a serious contender: champions in 1999 and back-to-back in 2020-2021, plus runners-up in 2025 to Flamengo in Lima. They play at Nubank Parque, called Allianz Parque until June 2026, backed by a fan base that demands the Copa.
Fun fact
The fans' pig was a real animal: on 2 November 1986, at the Morumbi, Cleo Sóstenes walked onto the pitch holding Chicão in front of 60,000 people, adopting as a mascot the slur rivals had thrown at them since 1968. According to the terrace leaders themselves, Chicão ended up as the year-end roast.
